The New Hampshire Young Farmers have spent the last week donating milk to food pantries across the state. It's a way to show support for dairy farmers as they face low prices for milk.
The group was inspired by a farm broadcaster in Ohio who challenged people to purchase 10 gallons of milk and donate it.
The Young Farmers group decided to do that in each of New Hampshire's 10 counties.
Alicia Pedemonti is the chair of the New Hampshire Young Farmers.
"We didn’t realize going into it that a lot of these food pantries really struggle to get perishable donations, especially milk. They rely on cans and boxes,” she said.
But Pedemonti acknowledges it'll take a lot more to change the market for dairy farmers.
