Nashua Begins Push For Clean Energy Upgrades, With Discounts

City of Nashua

The city of Nashua is moving forward in its plan to reduce its carbon footprint.

The Solarize+ campaign covers Nashua and Hudson, and runs through the end of August.

The city is working with two New Hampshire companies to offer residents and businesses discounts on clean energy upgrades – like solar installations, battery storage and energy efficiency audits.

Madeline Mineau of the city’s energy committee says the more sign-ups they get, the bigger the discounts will be.

She says Nashua’s energy plans have focused mainly on municipal power use so far – so this campaign is the next step.

“We thought that this was a great way to try and have an impact community-wide,” Mineau says.

She says they’ve had lots of interest in the project’s first few days. They want at least 100 solar installations and 100 weatherization projects completed by the end of the year.

Residents can attend public meetings on the project this week and next.
