Manchester Peregrine Finds New Mate

Chris Martin
/
NHA

On Monday, the Union Leader reported that the peregrine family nesting high above Manchester had found a new papa bird. After her previous mate injured his wing and was taken in for surgery, the female falcon eventually left the nest in search of food. Within 72 hours of her former mate's disappearance, she successfully found a new male for her nest. According to Chris Martin, the female is now ignoring the unhatched eggs sired by the injured falcon and is expected to mate with her new partner very soon.

Chris reported on this peregrine family a year ago. You can find that episode of Something Wild here
