A former employee for the Town of Londonderry says she was the target of discrimination and harassment, and claims reports of sexual misconduct went unanswered by town officials.
In a lawsuit filed in federal court this week, the former employee, who held jobs with the town’s assessing and planning departments, alleges that she was the target of bullying and harassment by supervisors and co-workers.
The suit also alleges that an employee made masturberatory gestures in her presence multiple times. She alleges the same employee watched pornographic videos on a work computer, and made a crude joke involving a popsicle.
Lawyers for the Town of Londonderry did not respond to a request for comment. A lawyer for the former employee declined to comment, citing the ongoing litigation.
The lawsuit seeks monetary damages as well as an apology from the town. The employee worked for the municipality for nine years, resigning in 2016. She took multiple leaves of absence during her employment, citing emotional distress over workplace conditions. Her suit lays out what she alleges is a pattern of retaliatory behavior within the town’s government, and claims that management failed to respond appropriately to her concerns.
