This week lawmakers will have their final say on dozens of bills still left over from this year's legislative session. Wednesday is the last chance any bills have of making it to the Governor’s desk this year.
After a week of negotiations, several bills got the committee votes they needed - but some were unsuccessful.
Such as a bill to ban the so-called practice of conversion therapy for minors. This proposal would have prohibited licensed counselors from offering services to teens aimed at changing their sexual preference. But an agreement could not be reached after GOP House lawmakers refused to compromise.
Meanwhile a years-long effort to regulate drones in New Hampshire also fell flat in committee. The hang up - was whether to exempt businesses from the 250 foot restriction around private property.
But many bills such those addressing the state’s current opioid crisis did get a nod of approval.
One looks to add $1.5 million to law enforcement agenciesfor targeting low-level dealers in an effort to arrest larger dealers. Another adds $5 million mostly for substance abuse treatment.
The full House and Senate will be voting on all remaining bills this Wednesday.
