Facing Felony Charges, Rep. Tasker Resigns

Nottingham PD

Nottingham State Representative Kyle Tasker has resigned.

The Republican was serving his third term in the New Hampshire House when he was arrested last week.

He faces four felony charges, including one count of using a computer to lure a minor for sex.

House Clerk Paul Smith read Tasker’s letter of resignation at the start of this morning’s House session.

"Dear Speaker Jasper, I am writing to resign my seat as representative from Rockingham County District 2. I appreciate all your courtesies in the time I have served in the New Hampshire legislature," Tasker wrote.

There was a smattering of applause among House members after the letter was read, to which House Speaker Shawn Jasper responded, "The House will not show emotion."

Police arrested Tasker when he arrived for what he thought was a meeting for sex with a 14-year-old year girl he had arranged through Facebook.

After searching Tasker’s residence, police say they found a stockpile of drugs which appeared to be packaged for distribution.

Tasker was released on $50,000 cash bail Monday, but is being monitored with an electronic ankle bracelet.
