Claremont Explores Hosting Pumpkin Fest

A group in Claremont will hold a public meeting this weekend to discuss the possibility of the city hosting the Keene Pumpkin Festival.

The New Hampshire Union Leader reports the Claremont Citizens Group will meet Saturday morning at Trinity Church.

The Keene City Council voted last week to reject the permit for what would have been the 25th anniversary of the festival this October.

Keene officials cited concerns about safety after riots broke out near the event last year.

The Claremont Citizens Groups is proposing to host the festival this year, with the possibility of alternating between Claremont and Keene each year moving forward.

Let It Shine, the group that organizes the festival, says it’s received numerous inquiries from other communities interested in hosting the event.
