When Donald Trump took the stage in Nashua Monday night, he was greeted by hundreds of people sporting red “Make America Great Again” hats, waving Trump signs and this song, "We're Not Gonna Take It," by Twisted Sister.
During his hour and a half stump speech, the GOP presidential candidate addressed his standard points: building a wall along the southern border, defeating ISIS and bashing the media -- this time the local media.
“Because you have a very dishonest newspaper up here, it’s also a failing newspaper – it’s going down the tubes," Trump told the crowd referring to "The Union Leader," which endorsed Chris Christie for the GOP presidential nomination last month.
“I remember when this was a big paper – look at the size of this thing. If they cut it down anymore, you won’t be able to find it. It looks like the things, you know, you go to the grocery store and they hand out –what do you call it? Coupons," Trump said as the crowd laughed.
“Since 1980 they’ve picked one president it was Ronald Reagan – they’ve endorsed one guy who ran and won for president. So, out of a 36 year period they’ve got one and they’re not gonna win this time, that I can tell you.”
Trump also personally attacked the paper’s publisher Joe McQuaid, who wrote an editorial in that day’s paper comparing Trump to the bully from the movie “Back to the Future.”
In closing, Trump urged his New Hampshire supporters to be sure to vote on Primary Day and defy predictions that he’d falter once voting starts.
