Although the full House will not be meeting this week, lawmakers still have their hands full working through dozens of bills in committee.
The full House will not return until March 9th but in the meantime there’s a spate of hearings scheduled already.
There’s one to address the continuation of the state’s expanded Medicaid program for another two years; one on net metering and one on whether to allow prisoners to vote by absentee ballot.
The Senate on the other hand will be meeting on Thursday but with a pretty light agenda. Bills on the docket include clarifying an employees’ rights to data privacy at the workplace to allowing beer and wine tasting at farmers’ markets.
Senate committees will also be meeting throughout the week as well. One bill in particular that might attract some debate is whether to allow a psychiatric facility to be built at the state’s only juvenile detention center.
There’s also a bill that would require food stamps benefit cards to contain a photo id.
