Janis Wolak is senior researcher at the Crimes Against Children Research Center at the University of New Hampshire. She’s co-author of two studies on sexting being released in today’s edition of the journal Pediatrics, and she tells All Things Considered host Brady Carlson the UNH data shows a rate of sexting much lower than the 20 percent number commonly cited in news reports.
A new report shows New Hampshire is again among the healthiest states in the nation.
But health officials say there is still room for improvement.
The United Health Foundation’s report looked at a variety of health issues, including heart disease deaths, cancer rates, premature births and access to health insurance.
New Hampshire was ranked second healthiest, an improvement from third last year.
The state scored well because of its low percentage of children in poverty, low crime rate, and high use of prenatal care and immunizations.
The American Lung Association announced a project that will pay individuals in Southern New Hampshire to swap out their old woodstoves.
The money for the program comes from a company’s settlement with the EPA.
The project provides consumers from Merrimack, Hillsborough, and Rockinghman counties vouchers to replace old, inefficient wood stoves, with new clean burning ones.
The vouchers are worth anywhere from one to three thousand dollars, and can be used for pellet stoves, or wood-burning stoves.
