The Concert
| NHPR’s Folk Show Folk Show is back, and this year we're celebrating folk music's connection with Earth Day! Join host Kate McNally and three world-class folk musicians - Catie Curtis, Vance Gilbert and Cliff Eberhardt – as they share songs and stories in a special round-robin format. It’s an intimate evening with some of folk music’s most original voices. Tickets are available through the Colonial Theatre website, and proceeds will benefit NHPR. |

Vance Gilbert has never been afraid to make a big impression. The Philadelphia-area native made an impact in the early 90's, when Boston folk clubs began buzzing about his unique songwriting and passionate performances. After seven acclaimed CD's of original songs, Gilbert has once again turned heads by recording a CD of covers. On Angels, Castles, Covers Gilbert sings 11 of his own favorites, from artists as diverse as Al Green, Joni Mitchell, Todd Rundgren and Jimi Hendrix.

Boston's own Catie Curtis is known as one of the most hardworking performers on the folk circuit, having headlined clubs and theaters across the US for more than a decade. Her most recent release, Long Night Moon, has won wide critical acclaim. It features the track "People Look Around," for which Curtis and co-writer Mark Erelli won the grand prize in the 2007 International Songwriting Competition.

A pioneer of the "New Folk" movement in New York's Greenwich Village, Cliff Eberhardt has been described by the Seattle Post-Intelligencer as "one of the most talented musicians on the solo acoustic circuit... full of well-crafted songs and rich, emotional vocals." While Eberhardt is known to his peers as a magnificent songwriter, he's an equally gifted performer, weaving folk, acoustic blues, pop, rock and jazz into a compelling, inspiring style all his own. Cliff Eberhardt's latest release is The High Above and The Down Below.
