UNH Professor Proposes Property Tax Change
By David Darman on Thursday, July 14, 2005.
New research by Economics Professor Richard England at the University of New Hampshire suggests that making a change in how property taxes are computed might help build a stronger economy. He proposes implementing a two rate property tax system, instead of the familiar one rate system. Professor England performed the study in Dover with a fellow economist from Ohio State University. England explained during a phone conversation that struggling communities could get the most benefit from a two rate property tax.
