It's been two years since the rock formation known as the Old Man of the Mountain crumbled from the cliffs of Franconia Notch. A task force charged with creating a suitable tribute to the state's geological icon has come up with a preliminary design.

The Old Man of the Mountain Legacy Fund
The craggy square jawed profile of the Old Man was a fluke of nature that almost compelled attention. Architect Ward D'Elia readily agrees, that is a tough act to follow. But as the lead designer for the Old Man of the Mountain Legacy Fund, he says the basic outlines of a building that would go up near the former viewing area are taking shape.
Cut .. and learn from"
Architect Ward D'Elia is helping to design the facility to honor the Old Man of the Mountain. Several factors will shape the final plan. The group behind the project is seeking public feedback on their preliminary ideas. And as yet, they have no budget to pay for whatever they hope to build.
