John Lynch has won the Democratic nomination for Governor.

He defeated Paul McEachern by a wide margin.

New Hampshire Public Radio's David Darman has more.

Paul McEachern said he was sorry to lose, because it would mean there would be no more discussion about an income tax in New Hampshire.

At the same time, McEachern said he could easily see himself moving past the day to day grind of campaigning.
i have a very rewarding life. i can now cut my grass. its gotten out of hand. i have a great family and i've been priveledged to participate in the way that i have..

In celebrating victory, John Lynch invited McEachern supporters to join his campaign.

Lynch also reached out to disaffected Republicans who don't want to vote for incumbent Governor Craig Benson.

In his victory speech, Lynch promised to improve education, make healthcare more affordable, and expand the number of good paying jobs.

But Lynch grew most passionate when he promised to restore integrity to the Governor's office, a clear shot at Governor Benson.
no more hiding who is running state government. no more phony budgets. no more secret, backroom deals. we will bring state government back into the open, where it belongs. (cheers)

That promises to be a prominent theme of Lynch's campaign.
For his part, Governor Benson says he's kept his promise to keep taxes low.

Both candidates promise to veto any sales or income tax.
