NH Democratic Shift Favors Dean
By Jon Greenberg on Tuesday, December 23, 2003.
The growth of New Hampshire?s population in the last decade had a particular effect on the state?s Democratic voters. They?ve become more liberal. That?s the conclusion from the University of New Hampshire Survey Center. The Center?s director, Andrew Smith, looked at presidential primary exit polls between 1992 and 2002. He found that the fraction of Democratic voters who describe themselves as liberals increased by 25% in the past ten years. As New Hampshire Public Radio?s Jon Greenberg reports, that shift sets the Granite State apart from many other primary states.
