School Test Scores Mixed

New test scores for schools are out today. The results show modest gains in some areas but slightly lower scores in others.

The climate in which state education officials announced the latest numbers is different than in the past. With the arrival of the new federal law, No Child Left Behind, schools now face real consequences if they fail to make sufficient improvement from year to year.
