Henniker resident Joe Hurka was born in America, the son of an immigrant from Czechoslovakia. His father never talked much about his old life, but a few years ago, Joe took a trip to the homeland. He discovered that his father had been a member of the anti-communist resistance and a spy for the West. He chronicles his father's amazing life story in his book Fields of Light.
