Poetry to the People

This weekend State Poets Laureate from around the country gathered for the first time ever. They were in New Hampshire for the Poetry and Politics conference. It was presented by The New Hampshire Writers? Project and (New Hampshire) Poet Laureate, Marie Harris.

As part the conference these 17 visiting Poets Laureate headed out across New Hampshire on Friday morning to give free public readings. They hit every corner of the state with over 30 venues. NHPR went to the readings and has collected a few highlights from the day?s events. In the next hour, we hear Poets Laureate from Wyoming, Vermont, South Dakota, and Connecticut and of course, New Hampshire.
