Women in the Military
By Laura Knoy on Tuesday, April 1, 2003.
From nurses to WACS to WAVES to combat pilots, women have served in the U.S. military for over a century. We'll discuss the changing roles of women in the armed forces and recent concerns about female POWs. Our guests are Capt. Lory Manning, director of the Center for Women in Uniform and Hire-A-Vet projects at The Women's Research and Education Institute (www.wrei.org); and Dr. Judy Bellafaire, military historian for The Women in Military Service for America Memorial Foundation (www.wimsa.org). Also, Ruth Huff, Staff Sergeant in the Army during the Gulf War.
