HB1456

Misinformation – First; EPA has stated that there are no safe pesticides, so when it comes to speaking about pesticides, don't say it’s safe!
Second; EPA funded a decade long research on children and pesticides - They tested 100’s of children and found pesticides in their system. They decided, that before they could go on to determine what pesticides are doing to their health, they needed to go backwards to find the answer to how the children were being exposed. They concluded, Our children stick their hands in their mouth hundreds of times a day. Pesticides cannot be washed off with plain soap and water. It was clear that this is how the children were being exposed. The report went on to say, mothers bearing child that received exposure, did in fact pass it on to the unborn child.
Third; just what is the pesticide doing to the child’s health? That is the missing answer, and what this bill HB#1456 is all about. Plain and simple!
It is my opinion that we all need to use the organic approach first, then chemicals only if it is absolutely needed to prevent sickness and health. (Emergency situations) But we need to know how to keep our children safe from exposure and what it may be doing to our health.

The Horror of Lawn Pesticides

Unnatural pesticides like 2,4,-D and Dicamba and so on are produced by big chemical companies. They have become a very profitable product; like some medications. Would you want to be a guinea pig and take a medication that has not bee properly tested?

These lawn pesticides (herbicides are what kills the dandelions and "weeds",including clover which bees love...), are put down in much greater volume per acre than agricultural pesticides. Sitting in your yard even weeks after you have used these products will expose you to more pesticide toxins than from the foods you eat. Also, there are no studies out about the volatility of the combination of these with other chemicals in our air. The sun increases their toxicity, too!

Cosmetic Lawns and HB1456

Sadly, many, even doctors, do not know that these lawn products that kill weeds and grubs... are also killing us; they can affect our development before and after birth. Our endocrine systems can be acutely disrupted; look up Endocrine Disruption and see all the ramifications-- boys born with malformed genitalia, girls unable to reproduce and with other complications concerning hormonal imbalance. Women with excess estrogen which makes them prone to breast cancer. Men with too little testosterone which is behind erectile dysfunction... This is a wake up call. You might not use these products but the wind carries them to your lawn furniture and to your fresh wash blowing in the breeze! We are dealing with another "second-hand smoke" scenario!

HB 1456

Russo didn't say that the EPA has never tested these lawn pesticides; they let the manufacturers test them! Lawn pesticides are used everywhere and effect all of us; not just children.

HB 1456

Yes, the bill needs to be "focused" and that focus should be on Cosmetic Lawn Pesticides. These are the primary cause of illness to all of us; not just children. 2,4-D is one of those
herbicides used on school grounds and hospital grounds and city green areas to kill weeds. Studies have shown that unborn children are affected by these. They can cause: asthma, heart problems, neurological problems... The NH Dept of Ag's Russo says they are put down in "safe" amts. The EPA has never tested these
pesticides. They let the manufacturer do the testing.
