The time is the onset of World War II. The place is a small island off the New England coast. The characters are the people who live on the island. The protaganist is a teenage girl wise beyond her years in some ways, and naive in others. This is Snow Island, the setting and the title of the debut novel by Katherine Towler. We talk with Katherine about the process of writing the book over eleven years and finally getting noticed by a publisher. Snow Island has attracted a lot of attention and Katherine is thinking about a sequel.
