The Science of Gratitude
By Elaine Grant on Thursday, November 26, 2009.
If there's any day of the year when we remember to thank people, it's Thanksgiving. We thank mom for the Turkey, we thank sis for the pumpkin pie, we thank junior for not standing in front of the TV during the football game. But University of California Psychology Professor Robert Emmons says there's a lot more to gratitude than the words Thank you. During a recent interview on NHPR's Word of Mouth, he tells our health and science reporter Elaine Grant that gratitude is quite complex and it brings with it a host of health benefits.
