This Weekend: Fashion, Anime, and Story Tellers
By Rick Ganley on Friday, November 20, 2009.
The holiday season may be here, but there are some unusual events happening this weekend that have nothing to do with turkey or gift shopping. Editor of the Hippo Amy Diaz talks with Rick Ganley. Nashua is hosting a three-day fashion show called "Fashions of the Fifties", looking back at high-end fashions of the era (think of the clothes on "Mad Men"). Local artists will be modeling the clothes and the proceeds benefit a Nashua arts organization. There's going to be a different kind of dress-up going on at Another Anime Convention, for fans of Japanese anime. The schedule includes an anime costume ball, as well as talks with artists and voice talents from a number of anime productions and workshops for aspiring producers. Finally, the Central New Hampshire Storytelling Guild will take part in the Tellabration at the NHTI Library. They'll feature several storytellers in a traditional, "storytelling-for-all" vein. And it's a great way to get ready for the National Day of Listening next week. Post a comment
