BBC's World Challenge 2009

By Virginia Prescott on Monday, October 5, 2009.

Here’s an update on a story we brought you last month. We spoke with Yossi Mossel from Comet ME. The Israeli-based NGO is using portable solar and wind technology to bring power to Palestinian Bedouins living in disputed areas of the West Bank.

Many listeners were interested in the story and passed it along via Twitter. Well, the Comet ME project is one of 12 nominees for the BBC World Challenge. That’s a global competition for grassroots enterprise and innovation. Online voting is open to the public until November 19.
