Kick Start Your Dream Project
By Virginia Prescott on Thursday, September 10, 2009.
![]() Musician April Smith has toured the country, playing South by Southwest and Lollapalooza. She's not on a label and wants it to keep it that way. So she turned to a new website called Kickstarter. Kickstarter allows musicians, filmmakers, writers and entrepreneurs to post their dream projects, and whoever wants to can help pitch in money to make it happen. April Smith did meet her goal, raising over $13,000 from over 200 donors. We'll hear from two other people who have posted their dream projects on Kickstarter: Boston Globe staff writer Geoff Edgers and New Hampshire-based writer E. Christopher Clark. One achieved his goal. The other didn’t, but he still found a great reward. We begin our conversation with Kickstarter co-founder Yancey Strickler.
