Redesign Your Farmers' Market

By Avishay Artsy on Friday, August 28, 2009.

The good folks at GOOD Magazine have a contest to redesign your local farmer's market, and they've just put out three entries from the bumper crop of submissions they've received.

They're looking at how better design can get locally-grown food delivered and distributed to urban residents. So they're calling for designers, architects, farmers, chefs, vendors, and farmers’ market shoppers to think about how to improve the modern farmers’ market experience.

Proposals can range from a newly-designed marketplace to a way of better collecting, storing and transporting food. There's more at the contest site, including instructions for submitting your sketches and explanations. The winning entry gets a cookbook, a guide to living sustainably in the city, and a magazine subscription and t-shirt. But act fast: the deadline is Sept. 1.
