2nd District Congressman Paul Hodes
By Laura Knoy on Sunday, July 12, 2009.
We’ll sit down with New Hampshire Congressman Paul Hodes and get his take on the biggest debates on Capitol Hill this summer: health care, the economy, reforming the way we regulate the financial sector, and whether the stimulus package is working. We’ll also look at the energy and climate change bill that just passed the House but faces an uncertain fate in the Senate. Guest

The congressman dodged Laura's question about competition ... how would adding public coverage increase competition among health care insurers when there are already multiple companies?
Congressman Hodes has supported measures to preserve federal student aid and college access programs. Some of the finest are administered through nonprofit organizations such as NH Higher Education Assistance Foundation (NHHEAF). Please comment on the President's plan to eliminate the role of agencies like NHHEAF? (NHHEAF provides college planning programs to thousands of K-8 students and 93% of the public high schools in NH.)
Thank you.
I'm quite displeased that my question about the Federal Reserve Transparency act wasn't asked.
it appears to me that there is little interest in asking the tough questions to people who should be held accountable for their decisions, or lack thereof in the case of this topic.
thanks!
Congressman Hodes,in considering the future of agriculture welfare subsidies, might read the emerging studies that connect cow milk, loaded with natural hormones, (IGF-1) bacteria, and the perfect proportions of fat, protein and milk sugar to turn an infant calf into a cow, with every disease known to westerners and now expanding to all nations consuming dairy.
Congressman Hodes, by supporting dairy farming, also supports the cruel veal industry, and feeding cows instead of feeding humans directly.
How do cows get calcium? How do the largest and strongest mammals get calcium?
GREENS!
The dairy farmers take the most sacred thing on earth, a mothers nourishment for HER own baby, and turn it into products that sicken human children.
Dr. Benjamin Spock, Dr. John McDougall, Dr. Joel Fuhrman, Dr. Neal Barnard, and hundreds of other holistic thinking medical doctors, warn that cow milk is NOT what children should be using for calcium and in fact, the HIGHEST rates of fractures, osteoporosis, are in nations consuming the MOST dairy, not the least.
Comparative research shows that those cultures who eat the MOST greens, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, have the LEAST rates of degenerative disease.
What the US citizens really need is USDA overhaul and a FREE MARKET system so products that are bad for us stop being produced. The multi billion $$$$ Farm Bill and consequent agriculture policy has been in the hands of a few agribusiness moguls. The result is the fattest nation with the highest rates of preventable disease.
Let's hope the new Surgeon General understands what many real ethical doctors have known for centuries, that FOOD IS MEDICINE, not something to stuff down the throats of children already plagued by the ignorance of policy makers and the animal agriculture lobby.
