Summer Film Roundup

By Virginia Prescott on Wednesday, June 24, 2009.

Dreary weather aside, the summer blockbuster season is on. After all, what better escape from the endless drizzle than your local cineplex?

The first wave of big-ticket films began in May with Wolverine, Star Trek, Terminator Salvation, Angels & Demons, and Pixar’s Up. Now we’re on to the second wave, including Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, which came out at midnight this morning.

Film reviewer Amy Diaz joins us for a preview of what’s worth seeing this summer, from big-budget action, to kid-friendly flicks, to some indie films you won’t want to miss. Amy’s the executive editor and film critic for The Hippo Press.

Films discussed in this segment:

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Public Enemies
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Year One
Whatever Works
Away We Go
