The 48 Hour Film Project

By Todd Bookman on Monday, June 22, 2009.

If big-budget summer blockbusters aren’t your thing, you may want to check out a new collection of shorts filmed right here in the Granite State. The 48 Hour Film Project - an international competition that asks filmmakers to write, film and produce a movie in one short weekend — came to New Hampshire for the first time this year.

On June 12th, 24 teams began a mad dash to create four-to-seven minute long films. The teams drew a genre out of a hat and built a film around a local landmark, prop, and a character saying the line, "Don’t just stand there, move it!" Which aptly sums up the experience.

The completed movies will have their premier screening tonight in Londonderry. You can purchase tickets here, or watch previous years' entries here.

I participated in a 48 Hour film in SF years ago and am thrilled to see this come to the Granite State!
