Green Jobs for Veterans

By Grace Hood on Monday, June 22, 2009.

Veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan are returning to a dismal job market. A new program in Colorado looks at this as an opportunity.

The Veterans Green Jobs Academy in Colorado is training vets to become green collar workers, to weatherize homes and perform energy audits. It’s a program that four other states hope to replicate later this year. Fifteen veterans from all branches of the military graduated from the academy earlier this month.

KUNC's Grace Hood brings us the story. You can listen to it at the Public Radio Exchange.
