The Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests has made a big impact in the state in its first hundred years. It's a litte different from most other land use organizations. The Forest Society has always balanced conservation and preservation with economic use of undeveloped land, a stategy that draws both praise and criticism. SPNHF has published a new book chronicling its history called "People and Place". www.spnhf.org
