FairPoint Takes Over

By Laura Knoy on Monday, January 26, 2009.

As of Friday, FairPoint Communications will be fully in charge of landline telephone service in New Hampshire. They are taking over from Verizon after a long transition period and several delays. We’ll look back at this year-long journey, what FairPoint pledged to bring to the Granite State and how today’s economic climate may affect those promises.

What does Fairpoint Mean by "No Service Calls for 2 Weeks?"

I heard on the radio Sunday evening that Fairpoint will not accept "Service calls" for two weeks during the transition from Verizon. We were without telephone service for more than 21 days after the ice storm. If we have an outage now, does that mean that we won't even be able to call anyone for repairs for two weeks? If there were any way to return to the reliable service Verizon/NYNEX/New England Telephone used to provide, I would be all for it! I expect a lot of self-serving rhetoric from Fairpoint, but believing it would be like believing the hype about how no-interest motgage loans to unemployed people are perfectly safe before the credit collapse.

DSL Service

MSN has notified me that Fairpoint will no longer provide MSN Premium service which Verizon featured with their DSL service. It was
our understanding ALL services with be provided without changes after the changeover.

Thanks tony

Looseing MSN Premium?

I'm mad. There isn't a browser as good. I hope I can get it back somehow. Even if I have to pay extra for it. Same price less product as I see it with this take over.
I hope we don't loose are contacts for email etc.

Fairpoint Claims vs Reality

Fairpoint has spent a small fortune to sell internet services in this calling area. However when you call them, you are told such service is not available and they have no idea when it will be available. All talk and no service!

Fairpoint Customer Service

I just got off an excruciating phone call with Fairpoint customer service - took three calls to be told that they could not update the credit card on my file until February 11th.

Fairpoint, fail point

My Verizon account was switched to Fairpoint. They said that they would forward all mail to my Fairpoint account that had been mail to my Verizon account. They didn't. I can't even access my Verizon acocunt any longer to see what was there. When I called the help desk at Verizon, they were useless. They said that they added 80 new(!) people to handle the complaints (rather than adding experienced people.) The Fairpoint interface is horrid and was probaly written by rookies. I will change to another provider as soon as I can.

fairpoint complaint

I just moved and requested my phone line to be transferred to my new house and 2 wks later its still not working. They can't get us up and running but they are able to bill us for service that we don't have. I just received a $300 bill and Im not paying it. they better be giving us credit.
