A New Look for the White House Website

By Willa Kammerer on Tuesday, January 20, 2009.

At 12:01 PM EST, as millions of Americans in Washington, D.C. and across the country and around the world watched the inauguration ceremony, whitehouse.gov became a blog and Macon Phillips announced himself Director of New Media for the White House in a post entitled “Change has come to whitehouse.gov.”

On the site, Americans can peruse President Obama’s full agenda, catch up on the latest White House news in the Briefing Room and learn about the administration and the American government. There’s also a form on the site for Americans to contact the President and his staff with any “questions, comments, concerns, or well-wishes.”

This is quite the change from the old face of whitehouse.gov – and the internet Wayback Machine lets you see it for yourself. Read more on the changes here.
