FEMA Assessment Teams Expected Soon

Governor John Lynch has requested a preliminary damage assessment from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, or FEMA.

The governor says he expects FEMA teams to arrive in the next several days.

Despite the state battling a huge budget deficit, the governor says he’s not concerned about money right now.

"Until all the power is restored, which still obviously will be a matter of days, we are going to focus on that prior to looking at the economic analysis."

Lynch says there’s clearly been significant infrastructure damage, but it’s difficult to quantify.

The governor says municipalities that have stressed their budgets by paying overtime for emergency response teams could be eligible for reimbursement.
