Cars, Scars and Handlebars
By Virginia Prescott on Thursday, November 6, 2008.
![]() Earlier in the show we learned about those who risk their lives performing daredevil stunts to impress state fair crowds. We’re going to look at another subculture of people who make a living putting their lives on the line: bike messengers. Independent producer Sarah Lange wanted to see what it’s like to be a bike messenger in the hectic city. She wanted to know how bike couriers became a symbol of urban living, and why in the world someone would want to spend their days risking life and limb navigating the busy streets. This is her take on the life of a bike messenger. She calls it “Cars, Scars and Handlebars.” Click here to listen. (Photo by T.MoE) About usWord of Mouth is all about what's new.
