Visualizing Poetry On Screen
By Avishay Artsy on Wednesday, October 15, 2008.
Hofford got the idea in 1988. It took two decades before he collaborated with Keene videographer Nicholas Roy to complete the project. They've released a 30-minute DVD called "Living in the Green," in which Gale plays original compositions as Hofford reads his poetry. The sounds are then matched to serene footage of babbling brooks, thick forests and beautiful New Hampshire landscapes from various seasons. Half of the proceeds from the DVDs will go to childrens' charities in the United States and Russia, where the couple did missionary work. Click here for more info.

I met these two charming people last night for the first time at the Fiske Free Library in Claremont NH. The poetry is first rate & very creative. Many of the poems that were read had a distinct NH outdoor flavor that I could easily relate to. It is very evident that James Hofford has lived in NH long enough to describe his environment well in his wonderful work. I look forward to hearing the music of Ellen Gale, when I listen to their CD "Living In The Green"
