Senator Bob Clegg lost to radio talk show host Jennifer Horn in the second Congressional district.

New Hampshire Public Radio’s Amy Quinton reports.

Web resources:

Of the five Republican candidates vying for the chance to face Democratic Congressman Paul Hodes, the race between Bob Clegg and Jennifer Horn was expected to be the tightest.

Clegg declined to concede until the some of the very last votes were counted.

He says he ran the best campaign he could.

"People voted on what I said and I spoke from the heart I told everybody what I actually believed, I didn’t compromise my principles so if people didn’t vote for me, its based on the fact that they didn’t agree with me and that’s okay."

During his campaign, Clegg stressed his 14 years of experience as a state legislator.

He hasn’t decided whether he’ll throw his support behind Horn in the general election, but says he’s open for discussion.
