New Hampshire Republican Party head Fergus Cullen says Democrat Barack Obama will surely raise taxes if he’s elected president.

Senator Obama is spending two days visiting the state.

Cullen bases his claim on Republican research into Obama’s voting record.

“As a member of the united states senate, he voted 94 times to raise taxes, including twice to raise taxes on families making as little as 42 thousand dollars a year.”

Despite the assertion, the Annegberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania found the Republican talking point to be exaggerated.

Their website, Factcheck.org, found Senator Obama’s few votes on taxes would restore rates that were in place before the Bush tax cuts went into effect.
