Faux Fancy
By Andrew Walsh on Friday, September 5, 2008.
![]() Designer Demelza Hill has a product for those who enjoy the formality of a proper three-course meal, but may have to eat it on the go. Snap and Dine offers a plastic plate and a full set of disposable cutlery in the style of traditional place settings, including design flourishes reminiscent of the silverware Grandma kept in that fancy China cabinet you weren’t allowed to play near when you were a kid. The Snap and Dine website says, “the portable lunch setting expands the possibilities of eating outdoors in style whilst reinforcing the correct use of cutlery, which has been lost over time.” Demelza Hill studied 3D Design at the University of Brighton. She says she tries to “get more from the items that we interact with daily, exploring materials and function to challeng[e] people's perceptions of everyday products and materials by showing them in a new light.” (via Cool Hunting) Add new comment
