Gas Stations Struggle with Skyrocketing Costs

By Virginia Prescott on Tuesday, August 5, 2008.

Drivers who are sick and tired of doling out big bucks at the gas pump may be surprised to hear they’re not the only ones feeling the pinch – the folks behind the cash register are getting hit hard, too. Exxon mobile reported record-shattering profit margins last week. Meanwhile, high fuel prices are putting gas station owners out of business at an alarming rate. Garen Daly of the Frugal Yankee joins us on Word of Mouth to explain the plight of the independent gas station owner and to look at the economics of fuel sales.

You can listen to Garen’s full interview with the New England Service Station and Auto Repair Association at the Frugal Yankee website.
