Immigration Question 7-30-08

I have a family member who is an illegal immigrant... He is handicapped and a professional and he has been in the US since 85-86. I would like to know, what options does he actually have besides marriage to become legal? He has been in the system and sponsored by a family member since 88-89 and is still waiting for his turn.
