New Hampshire officials say they are ready to send help to New York and Washington D.C. to aid the victims of Tuesday?s Terrorist attacks. Officials are also making changes to the state?s security systems. NHPR?s David Darman has more.

Governor Jeanne Shaheen says she shares the nation?s shock and horror concerning Tuesday?s terrorist attack in New York City. And Shaheen says it is clear that several New Hampshire citizens are among the growing list of dead in the tragedy.
We already know that we have lost family, friends, and neighbors. Micheal and Kathleen Shearer of Dover; Douglas Stone of Dover; tom McGuiness of Portsmouth; Thelma Cuccinello of Wilmot; louis Neil Mariani of Derry; Robert Leblanc of Lee. All have had their lives cut short by these cowardly and senseless attacks.

The governor says she has instructed state safety and emergency personnel to offer help to New York authorities, and deliver blood and other supplies as needed. Woody Fogg, director of the Governor?s Office of Emergency Management, says some of those efforts are already underway.
07 we have sent a disaster assistance team from the red cross. An urban search and rescue team has been deployed out of Massachusetts. It?s a regional team. ..There?s a mortuary team, and some of our medical examiners teams have deployed with that and as the governor has already mentioned, the civil air patrol is standing by with coolers to transport blood when requested by the red cross. 07 33

State officials have also beefed up security at several locations, including military installations, power stations, and state buildings. State transportation commissioner Carol Murray says Manchester airport officials are about to implement new security procedures from the Federal Aviation Administration. Murray says these changes will make going to the airport more inconvenient.
08 106 It will involve parking changes. No curbside baggage check on. A number of things that secretary mineta spoke about yesterday. Checkin at the airport is going to be longer. 08 117

While state officials are taking steps to strengthen security, Governor Jeanne Shaheen says there?s also a need to pay lasting respects to the victims of the terrorist attacks.
04 55 I have directed flags on all state buildings to be flown at half staff, to honor the victims of this tragedy, and they will stay lower indefinitely. I ask all of you to keep the victims of these tragedies, and their families in your thoughts and prayers in the coming days.
