What Do You Want to Know About the Future?

By Avishay Artsy on Tuesday, May 6, 2008.

Here at Word of Mouth, we track new ideas and trends for some clues into where we, as a society, are headed. What scraps of insight can we glean from emerging technology and culture to tell us if we're on the right track? Is there any way of knowing?

From May 8-9, The New Yorker is hosting a conference that aims to do just that. "Stories from the Near Future" brings together theorists, designers, artists, politicians, scientists and others for two days of panel discussions on various ideas. Some of the world's brightest and most creative minds will be there.

I'll be attending too, blogging about it here, and asking the participants about their innovative work. I'd like to know: what are your questions? What do you want to know about the future? Leave comments below, or email us here.

If I'm normally attracted to men but prefer robots that are designed to resemble females, does that make me birobosexual? Also, how long will it take for Microsoft word to recognize "robosexual" as a real word?
