Students from Keene State College are now competing for the Environmental Protection Agency’s “People, Prosperity, and the Planet” award.
Known as the P-3 competition, college teams from across the U-S design projects aimed at achieving sustainable solutions to environmental issues.
New Hampshire Public Radio’s Amy Quinton reports.
In January, the EPA awarded 58 college teams 10-thousand dollars to research and develop a project aimed at helping the environment.
A student team from Keene State College was among the finalists and now has a chance to win an additional 75-thousand dollars to put their project into action.
Irissa Plouff, a safety studies major on the team, says students have designed a closed energy loop, in which biodiesel is created and used in the same community.
