What New Career Would You Like to Try?

By Andrew Walsh on Thursday, April 10, 2008.

Thursday on Word of Mouth, we'll speak about the new trend of "Vocation Vacations". Instead of grabbing a cheap novel and heading to the beach to zone-out, some travelers are using their vacation time to learn new skills. You can head to Portland to train as a chef, Nashville to make guitars, or Fort Worth to become a sports announcer. The possibilities are nearly endless.

So, you tell us: If you had the opportunity to take a Vocation Vacation, what new career would you like to try? Leave your comments below.

Instead of pursuing this damned graduate degree, I would like to make it in the world of new flavor developers at Ben and Jerry's. I would mix things you never imagined could blend so well together, like mangos and cinnamon and english breakfast tea or almond butter, honey, and gooseberry. I could have my own ice cream laboratory with discerning lab monkeys for the riskier taste tests. It would be marvelous.

When I was job hunting after college, I was considering taking a month and volunteering on a African Wildlife Refuge. It's still on my List.
