In a segment entitled Opera: Coming to a Theater Near You, Word of Mouth spoke with Marc Scorca, the president of Opera America, about the Metropolitan Opera in New York simulcasting operas to movie theaters. In that interview we mentioned that the beloved public radio (and television) show This American Life was also considering a visit to the big screen for a one-night only event. ![]() Well, Ira Glass fans, rejoice. On Thursday, May 1st Glass will debut never-before-seen extraordinary, funny and true stories from everyday life, show outtakes, and answer audience questions. The event will be broadcast live in HD and Cinema Surround Sound from New York via satellite to select movie theaters nationwide. Tickets go on sale beginning April 4th.
