The Death Penalty Revisited

Two capital murder cases going to trial this summer could result in New Hampshire's first executions in almost 70 years. We'll look at the impact these cases could have on the Granite State, from the justice system to the economy to the core values of our society.

Having studied this subject at length, including details of the 1939 case, I strongly feel that the death penalty should be upheld and expanded to include the murder of children and rape victims. Efforts to improve the justice system should be focused on shrinking the huge prison bureacracy, alternative punishments for non-violent offenders, and unjust or unequal jail time for offenders.

First I listened to the whole show and was somewhat disgusted with the panelists. Someone called in and made a good comment about one of the panelist comments stating that the death sentence is just like slavery.
This whole issue is just like anything else today, because there are way too many law makers that are not listening to the public. We elect officials to represent our views and opinions and instead of upholding what the majority want they are on their own agenda. If our elected officials were to put capital punishment up for a public vote, we could then get what the majority want and not what a few interpret as what is just or unjust for our society.
Your panelist had concern about the effects on the person carrying out the punishment. What about the effects of protecting the public from harm by our veterans? I feel the show was way too opinionated to have any real true meaning for the public listening. Please next time have panelist who have an open mind to other listeners.
