New TSA Blog

By Andrew Walsh on Tuesday, February 12, 2008.

The Transportation Security Administration has launched a new blog called Evolution of Security. It's stated purpose is "to facilitate an ongoing dialogue on innovations in security, technology and the checkpoint screening process." The site is less than two weeks old -- it looks like it launched on January 30th. So far, the online discussions have included rules about shoes, liquids, lighters, batteries, fake hips and the like.

NHPR web guy Brady Carlson sent us this link. He says,

What’s interesting is that it’s modeled exactly like any other small group blog with a handful of authors. I’d bet this is something we’re likely to see across the board – it doesn’t require any heavy lifting, but it creates the impression (or maybe the reality?) that you’re actually creating “dialogue” with government officials. It sure beats sending a complaint letter and getting an electronic form-letter response from someone you’ve never heard of.
