In the last two and a half years over 700 Palestinians in Gaza, including 126 children, have been killed by the Israelis. There's been, during that time, 8 people in Israel killed by Qassam Rocket attacks. These figures come from B'Tselem an Israeli human rights group. It is, indefensible, to target civilians of either side. It's also, obvious, that most of the victims in this conflict are Palestinian civilians. Ms. Louise Ardour, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, notes the people of Gaza are being "systematically deprived of almost all their human rights" even of life itself. It's time for the United States to call for a lifting of Israel's blockade of Gaza and negotiations with Hamas. Hamas has offered to come to the peace table, without preconditions. John S. Hancock
