My friend just recently told me about a new term he had heard..."postalgia". It means nostalgia for the future we envisioned in the past, but haven't yet realized in the present. You think of a movie like "2001: A Space Odyssey" or a show like "The Jetsons" and you get an idea of what they mean. Where are the flying cars and the people-movers?
